Too late to 'pologize!

Sorry for not having posted in a while. I was in Chicago for the long weekend and I haven't had very good blog material. That, and my creativity is ever decreasing as I continue to age - my birthday is in 2 weeks! Did you know that by the time you're 40 you will have 1% of the creativity you had when you were 5? Fascinating.

Actually, I'm not sure if that statistic is correct. I remember hearing a statistic similar to that in a college marketing class I took, but I don't remember the numbers exactly. It sounds about right though.

Speaking of 'pologizing, I've been trying to learn how to play the guitar in my free time this summer and I just learned how to play One Republic's Apologize. The fun thing is I made it acoustic and very emo. I can do a pretty decent cover of the song now. My goal is to turn the song folksy by the weekend.

Groin

I went to my first yoga class at 8 Limbs on Saturday. What a workout! I'm still sore today, especially around my inner thighs. The focus of the class was "opening the groin". Supposedly, Americans have really tense groins since we're always sitting at desks, crossing our legs and since we don't squat regularly, like people do in other countries. Every time the instructor said the word "groin" I giggled a little. I'm mature.

Turns out my groin region is very tense, along with every other part of my body. My toes, however, are very loose and relaxed. We did a squatting pose where we put most of our weight on just the toes, and I didn't feel a thing. It's a good sign of healthy, relaxed toes! Must be from years of picking up random stuff with my toes, like remote controls and food that's fallen on the floor.

I'm excited for my next class!

Lets do some pot

I went to my last pottery class this Monday. Four pots survived the horrible ordeal of me wedging, centering, pulling, trimming and glazing them. Of course, as I was taking my babies home I ended up smashing one in my car. Meh, I'll fix it with superglue.

Here they are:

The mice will play

Harold and I are enjoying the last week of the Shire without Karen (although we do miss her, ever so much). Sushi Maki tonight...and Ezell's thursday. Mashed potatoes count as veggies right?

By the way, I had my third pottery class yesterday and I'm getting better! I made a mini bowl yesterday that could be good for a tiny plant or some pencils. Hurrah!

Not a Potter

It's harder than I imagined. My fanciful dreams of being a pottery prodigy crumbled today after my second class at the Pottery School. My hands are all scratched up from the wheel. My posture is getting worse. And I learned there's no coordination between my eyes and any other part of my body.

The closest thing I made to a pot ended up looking like a lopsided ash tray. To make matters worse, the ash tray didn't survive because I accidentally pushed the clay too hard while I was trying to pull the walls higher, and my creation flew off the wheel and wedged itself into my leg.

Lovely.

Where are you?
